We have a lot of patients that come in that want cosmetic dentistry. We try to pride ourselves in the fact that whatever we’re doing it’s always geared toward a cosmetic aspect, meaning we want it to look the most natural as we can. Patients will come in interested in DaVinci Veneers or Lumineers, things that they see on TV or they’ve heard about in public or smile makeover television. Those are all really good because it gets them thinking about what can be done, and nowadays with a lot of the new technology we have we’re able to image patients beforehand so that they can kind of see what they might look like if they were to change the way their smile is. Whether it’s just whitening, making them look whiter, or replacing a missing tooth or doing some veneers.

The first thing we do is to try to find out what it is that they don’t like about their smile and what do they picture themselves when they close their eyes and feel like they’re done with their treatment; what are they going to look like? We try to tailor the treatment around that. Sometimes it can be done just by a little cosmetic reshaping or some bonding, sometimes it’s veneers on the teeth and sometimes it’s a lot of veneers, sometimes it’s just a few. It really depends on what they’re after and then we choose the materials from there. Some materials work really well and others aren’t so good, like Lumineers work great in a lot of cases and in other cases they’re just not indicated at all. Each individual is unique so it’s just finding out what their goals are and their expectations and then tailoring it to that.
