As you may know, over the years I have integrated the latest technology into my practice.  This allows me to treat patients utilizing minimally invasive dentistry.  It’s a win/win.  I am able to provide great care and patients are able to receive prompt treatment in the most comfortable and convenient way possible.

With that said, I am very excited to tell you about the newest addition to my practice!  I have installed Sirona Dental System’s three dimensional (3D) X-ray system, GALILEOS, the first ever such system in Santa Cruz!

Precision is the name of the game

This machine is precise!  Images taken in most dental offices are two-dimensional.  3-Dimensional images make the placement of dental implants safer, more predictable and accurate.  The Galileos system produces a three dimensional computer image of the patient’s jaw on the computer screen and the surgery can be “virtually” preformed before the clinical procedure even starts.

“GALILEOS represents the future of dentistry”

Galileos’ technology allows diagnostic X-ray imaging with the smallest amount of radiation possible, 10 times less radiation than a conventional CAT scan.  With astonishing anatomical detail, I can achieve more accurate dental treatment plan with improved results.  Dental implants can subsequently be placed with unrivaled precision and accuracy.

What that means for YOU

  1. The smallest amount of radiation possible (10 times less radiation than a conventional CAT scan)
  2. Fewer appointments (treatment can be expedited due to more accurate treatment plans with improved results)
  3. Convenience: This is the only unit of its’ kind in Santa Cruz (No need to go to the hospital for a CAT scan)
  4. Less invasive dentistry (because of the precision in determining the amount and thickness of bone before surgery, often there is no incision and no sutures after implant placement)
  5. Increased quality of care (Chronic sinus issues, malignancies of the jaws and dental lesions previously undiagnosed or unable to be seen on traditional 2-dimensional dental X-rays are frequently found in the new 3-Dimensional imaging)

Galileos literally changes everything.  I am extremely happy to be able to provide you with the latest technology that offers:  Increased quality of care, convenient treatment in fewer visits with the smallest amount of radiation possible.  It makes me smile, and I hope it does you too!

Becoming a Fellow

Excellence is the gradual result of always striving to do better.”  – Pat Riley

The goal of my practice is to restore people to full life and health.  We are committed to being excellent in what we say and what we do.  One of the ways we foster excellence in my practice is through continuing education.  That way we all stay up to date on all the most innovative new treatment and cutting edge technology.

I recently returned from a trip to the California Implant Institute in San Diego, where I went to visit Dr. Louie Al-Faraje.  I had the opportunity to be one of a small percentage of doctors around the globe to be trained under Dr. Al-Faraje and receive a hard earned Fellowship in the prestigious California Implant Institute.

Not only is Dr. Al-Faraje  a Diplomat in the American Board of Oral Implantology and Academic Chairman of the California Implant Institute, but he is a real jet-setter,  constantly traveling all of the world teaching his innovative solutions for dental patients who have lost, or about to lose all of their teeth and wearing dentures.

The future of missing teeth

It has been estimated that the number of people in the USA to be missing all of their natural teeth will double from 2010 to 2020. Obviously, there will be an audience looking for treatment options that are comfortable and allow good function and esthetics.

Implants eliminate messy adhesives, removing your dentures at night, embarrassment of dentures slipping during speech or smiling or the bad breath associated with wearing dentures.  Implants allow you to eat the foods you love, the freedom to smile, laugh at will, and live life to the fullest.

Technology that is changing people’s lives

With these new procedures, patients have a “fixed” prosthesis, where the new teeth are permanently anchored in place.  The new permanent teeth come closer to being just like natural teeth at a more economical cost than other comparable methods previously.

For example, The All-on-Four technique utilizes four dental implants to attach a new set of permanent replacement teeth.  The implants used in this procedure are specially designed for immediate function (putting the teeth on right away) and typically do not require expensive bone grafting.  Traditional approaches utilize 8-12 implants and usually bone grafting, increasing the cost for the patient.

In many cases, patients lacking the bone volume required to support traditional implants are able to enjoy the many benefits of a permanent solution to missing teeth with this All-on-4 procedure.

Beautiful teeth in one day

Due to the rigid structure of the replacement teeth and the anchorage provided by the dental implants, patients can go home that same day or the next, with new permanent teeth, even when extractions of hopeless teeth are involved.

If you have missing teeth or denture problems, there is hope.   Please call the office and set up a consultation.

To your health,

Dr. Bob
